A surprisingly wonderful day, due to a board meeting

Today started perfectly, with a long run. After that, I had a mini-retreat/board meeting slated for one of my favorite nonprofit organizations, Saving Little Hearts.

Although I'm a major fan of Saving Little Hearts, I'm often disheartened by retreats. It's sometimes hard to get folks fired up and ready to move forward. I'm excited to say that today was not one of the meetings that was mired down by any lack of interest or general process.

The board was active and engaged, vocal and encouraging. New things are in the works but they all serve the core mission. Just like many nonprofits at the moment, funding is a challenge…but a plan is in place to address this challenge. The biggest challenge on the table at the moment is that I've agreed to serve as Chair of the Board for the next two years.

I'm excited at what the next two years can hold, and even more excited at what the next group of board members will be able to do with what we accomplish.

If you don't know much about Saving Little Hearts, please take a moment to visit the SLH web site. If you want to join us in providing support to children with congenital heart defects, and their families, please contact us and let us know.
