Knoxville-based UT Federal Credit Union (UTFCU) has opened its newest branch at 707 East Emory Road in Powell, less than a mile from St. Mary’s Medical Center North.
This new full-service location offers ATM service, drive-thru, safe deposit boxes, an internet café, and a retail environment of banking like that currently in use at UTFCU’s main branch on White Avenue in Knoxville.
“Community response has already been phenomenal,†said Beth Wade, branch manager. “We quietly opened in March, with official Grand Opening festivities planned for April 22. Since the doors opened we’ve had a steady stream of new clients as well as current credit union members who are enjoying the convenience of our new branch.â€
Prior to joining UTFCU, Wade worked at Community South Bank where she held the positions of assistant vice president and branch manager; and at BB&T as a financial center manager. Other UTFCU employees of the new branch include Lakesha Reeves-McKnight, Shaquetta Dubose, Chris Wyrick and Whitney Littleton.
“We are pleased to bring this new facility to our members who live or work in Halls and Powell. With more than 3200 current members in the area that will be served with this new location, we’ll be able to provide a better banking experience to existing customers while reaching out to even more new members,†said Debbie Jones, UT Federal Credit Union President and CEO.
UT Federal Credit Union operates five branches in the Knoxville area. Two additional branches are located in Martin and Memphis, Tennessee.
About UT Federal Credit Union
UT Federal Credit Union celebrates its fortieth anniversary in 2009. Faculty and staff at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville founded UTFCU on the philosophy that a credit union is a financial cooperative owned by members who share a common interest such as work, education or association. Today, UT Federal Credit Union has more than 28,000 members and assets of over $164 million dollars. The heart of a credit union is its membership and as such, UT Federal Credit Union seeks to encourage savings, provide members with access to lower-cost loans, and support the financial well being of its members.
