Knoxville-based UT Federal Credit Union (UTFCU) opened its newest branch at 707 East Emory Road in Powell, with a special ribbon of money.

“With the Girls & Boys Clubs of Halls/Powell as an important neighbor, we knew we wanted to do something special to recognize this great community resource,” said Beth Wade, branch manager. “That’s why the ribbon we used for our Open House Ribbon Cutting was made up of 250 dollar bills.” Josh Yarbrough from the Boys & Girls Club brought four of his charges to take part in the Open House events. The $250 ‘ribbon’ was cut by Wade and UTFCU President and CEO Debbie Jones.

This new full-service location offers ATM service, drive-thru, safe deposit boxes, an internet café, and a retail environment of banking like that currently in use at UTFCU’s main branch on White Avenue in Knoxville.

“Community response already has been phenomenal,” said Wade. “Since the doors opened we’ve had a steady stream of new clients as well as current members  who are enjoying the convenience of our new branch.”

“We are pleased to bring this new facility to our members who live or work in Halls and Powell. With more than 3,200 current members in the area that will be served with this new location, we’ll be able to provide a better banking experience to existing members while reaching out to even more people in the community,” said Debbie Jones, UT Federal Credit Union President and CEO.

UT Federal Credit Union operates five branches in the Knoxville area. Two additional branches are located in Martin and Memphis, Tennessee.
