Keep Anderson County Beautiful (KACB) will celebrate receiving official certification as an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful and Keep Tennessee Beautiful on Tuesday, September 29, 2009. The celebration will take place at the Oak Ridge Chamber of Commerce at 5:30PM and is open to the public. Festivities will feature food, guest speakers, and more. Guests include representatives from Keep America Beautiful, Keep Tennessee Beautiful, and other affiliates.

The mission of KACB is to educate and engage individuals to take greater responsibility for improving their community environments. The effort began as a beautification effort of the Oak Ridge Chamber of Commerce in 2003 and has grown through the years.

Ruby Miller and Linda Kimmel have served as co-chairs of the KACB for the past 3 years. “We’re very proud of the work accomplished since 2003,” says KACB Co-Chairperson, Linda Kimmel. “With the official certification and a stronger relationship with Keep America Beautiful and Keep Tennessee Beautiful, we’ll be able to make an even greater impact in our communities.”
