FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Oak Ridge, Tenn. (November 1, 2010) – CONTACT Helpline, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing a confidential telephone service people in crisis or need, has announced plans for a Black Friday Yard Sale.

The event, which will take place on one of the busiest shopping days of the year, will be held on Friday, November 26, 2010 in Oak Ridge (specific location to be determined) from 6am until the last item is sold.

“Over the past few years, the needs for our services have steadily grown,” states Liz Batchelor, President of CONTACT Helpline. “We have expanded our services from the Anderson County region to cover the entire 865 area code, and the number of calls has increased dramatically. During these difficult economic times, not only is the demand for our services increasing, but funding is also greatly needed.”

“To reach out to those in need, as well as funders, we’ve utilized resources provided by the Knoxville Leadership Foundation to update our brand, web site, training materials and launch a social media campaign. It’s important to guarantee that when someone is in need, they can simply call the helpline for support,” added Ms. Batchelor.

“Seen as the perfect fundraiser during our uncertain economic times, we’ve announced the yard to allow donors to support CONTACT by simply donating quality items from around the home,” explains Holly White, Executive Director of CONTACT Helpline. “On the day of the sale, great bargains and a lot of fun are guaranteed. This event is important to the future of the organization, and donations are greatly needed.”

The Black Friday Yard Sale is expected to have thousands of items, as well as a bake sale and gift-wrapping booth so that all the gifts from the morning shopping sprees can be wrapped and put under the trees that day.

More information about the Black Friday Yard Sale can be found at Donated items are needed, please call 865-425-7771 or email to arrange a donation or to get more information.
