The Pizza Kitchen announces Free Pizza Day on August 18

Dine-in, carry-out, and new take & bake pizzas, free all day.

The Pizza Kitchen, Knoxville’s premium pizza restaurant, celebrates 12th birthday with Free Pizza Day, August 18.

"We’ve had a wonderful twelve years in Knoxville, and decided that starting an annual block party would be one of the best ways we could celebrate our birthday, and say ‘thanks,’ says Travis Redmon, owner of The Pizza Kitchen. "In order to celebrate our past, and look forward to the future, we’re offering 8” cheese pizzas all day long, free of charge. Customers and friends are welcome to eat at PK, get a pre-cooked pizza to go, or try our new Take & Bake option. Bring the entire family or office, and get a pizza for everyone that drops by.”

If a cheese pizza isn’t what you’re looking for, additional toppings can be added for just $.50 each. Free pizzas are limited to one per person.

We're happily working with RTL Technologies on a new web site for Halls Community Park. Before long, plenty of fun park-related information will be available.

In addition to the site, we had a chance to design a new logo for them. Something easy to read, and able to edit for each park activity (cheerleading, football, soccer, etc.).

Until the site is ready, we're happily posting a couple logos.

UT Federal Credit Union (UTFCU) introduces iPhone and iPad application

Banking on the go? UTFCU has an app for that.

UTFCU has released a new iPhone/iPad app, raising the UTFCU mobile banking experience to new heights.

“We’ve offered mobile banking for several years, and our new iPhone and iPad application incorporates all the banking services our members have come to expect,” said Malinda Wood, VP of Marketing at UTFCU. “Account balances, fund transfers, and recent activity are all functions of the app that many will use on a daily basis.”

The app also provides users with access to several different points of interest within UTFCU’s website and its various social media outlets, including recent twitter posts, a variety of videos highlighting the organization’s activities on and around campus, and news updates which have been posted on both the UTFCU (www.utfcu.org) and OnlyBankOnCampus (www.onlybankoncampus.com) websites.

There is also a branch locator that provides users with directions to the location of their choice.

“We are the only bank on the University of Tennessee campus,” said Wood,“ but we have branches located throughout the Knoxville area, and at both the UT Martin and Memphis campuses. Regardless of location, however, this app will allow members to enjoy full banking services from wherever they are.”

The app is available for free to iPhone and iPad users by accessing the app store and searching for UTFCU.

Samaritans Offering Support (SOS) is a Knoxville based non-profit organization offering support to the seriously ill middle-class and their families to help cope with catastrophic medical expenses. With offices in Knoxville and Nashville, their financial assistance programs, education and community outreach programs offer many ways to help.

The vision of SOS is a better well-being for all middle-class Americans. SOS envisions a life where all people have access to healthcare, live in safe neighborhoods, grow up in economically stable families and can seek out medical care without fear of crushing debt.

To help with their efforts, z11 communications has worked with them to update the overall brand and launch a new web site. More information is available at SOSMD.ORG, where anyone can easily download an application, learn more about the programs SOS offers or how to get involved.

Location-based social networking (FourSquare and stuff like that)

First, a bit of location-based self-promotion for z11 communications. Our Ringleader, Zane Hagy, recently participated in a panel regarding FourSquare. You can watch the entire 54-minute discussion on Knoxivi or read an article about it in the Knoxville News Sentinel, written by our local social media guru/journalist Carly Harrington.

In a nutshell, location-based social networking tools provide users a chance to 'check-in' at locations using a mobile device, updating friends along the way, and competing for numbers of check-ins and specials that can be offered by various businesses.

FourSquare is getting the most attention at the moment, but Yelp, Gowalla, Facebook, Twitter, and dozens of other services are in the fight.

For individuals, it's important to keep in mind that you're giving out specific information on where you're located. When deciding who to accept as friends, remember they'll know where you are any time you use location-based tools. One of the concerns often raised is that you're broadcasting your precise location to would-be robbers that you are not at home.

For businesses, just like Twitter, Facebook, Blogs, YouTube and other social networking tools, location-based networking isn't for everyone. For those that have a product to sell, there are uses in offering special discounts to those that check-in at your business. This can be done for each check-in, after multiple check-ins, or in other various ways.

The Pizza Kitchen announces PK Take & Bake pizzas

The Pizza Kitchen has announced the addition of PK Take & Bake pizzas to their menu, available as of June 21.

"We've been looking for new ways to serve our customers. From the feedback we've received, it was clear that there is a demand for an alternative to the existing take and bake pizzas offered by other restaurants," says Travis Redmon, owner of The Pizza Kitchen. "Over the past few weeks we've experimented with ways to raise the bar for take and bake pizzas, and we're certain we've done just that."

During the week of June 21-28, The Pizza Kitchen will offer PK Take & Bake pizzas for $5(medium, 2-topping), with special offers for those that will take a moment to provide some feedback online.
